The BDA (Planning and Building Standards) Regulation’2008 has been a land mark regulation in the history in the BDPA. It have opened up and provided new opportunities for construction of land mark buildings in the Capital City. Subsequently, large number  of proposals  are being received  for taking up big projects in the city by private developers  of National repute which will go a long way in providing quality  living and commercial space to the citizens of the City. To rise to the occasion, BDA has taken steps to expeditiously approve the plans. The numbers of plan approved in the year 2009-2010 has increased substantially to 2800 from the previous year 1200. In the current financial year till July, 1222 no.  of plans have been approved by holding regular DP&BP Committee and Authority meetings. In addition, the plan automation process is in the final stage and it will ensure speedy and transparent approval of building plans.
To expedite planning process, BDA has decided to prepare detail zonal plans for 14 planning zones as delineated in the Comprehensive Development Plan prepared by IIT Kharagpur. This detail zonal plan will help in formulating various action projects at micro level and will also help to re-build the city in a planned manner at plot level. This will also help to formulate projects like drainage, infrastructure, sewerage, open space development, socio-economic facilities to have a better living condition. The Authority has taken decision to award this work to IIT Kharagpur to prepare this zonal plan in a digital format so that it can be easily accessible to general public and other line Departments.
The above planning exercise along with the various development programmes taken up by BDA will definitely shape this temple city to a world class city in near future.
